2016 PINOT GRIS:
At Benton-Lane, we take Pinot Gris seriously. Three of our Top 100 Wines of the World were for this loveable white wine. We slowly ferment the fresh whole cluster pressed juice to allow the release of the aromatic floral notes. 2016 was another warm vintage that gave us another crisp, easy to enjoy Gris. Once again the aroma is delicate honeysuckle blossoms. The flavor begins with honeydew melon and then develops into fresh key lime with hints of white peach. The wine has excellent natural acidity and is great with Asian spiced dishes, oysters, or by itself chilled on the river or lake.
2016 PINOT BLANC:
There are only two places where this fabulous, but rarely grown grape excels. Luckily, the Willamette Valley is one and the other is Alsace. The grape clusters were pressed off “whole cluster” in a single press load. The juice was 100% barrel fermented to dryness in French oak barrels, 20% of which were brand new. We ferment the juice in French white oak barrels for a sweet creaminess. The wine conditioned in the barrels sur lie with weekly battonage until it completed malolactic fermentation and was blended.
The 2016 Pinot Blanc has aromas of vanilla, citrus fruit, cantaloupe and white peach. The flavors of mixed citrus fruit and honey blend well with a creamy mouthfeel and sweet light oak tannin finish.
2015 PINOT NOIR:
2015 was another fine, warm year with full ripeness in the fruit which allowed the fruit notes in the wine to be more black fruit driven (boysenberry, black cherry, blueberry and cassis) than red fruit (cherry, cranberry and raspberry). This brings more depth and concentration to the wine, along with a fine balance with all components getting along well with each other. This makes the wine a synergy and much more enjoyable. The wine is rich and deep with flavors of boysenberry, cassis and white pepper. On the finish is the sweet flavor of toasted oak from over-priced French wine barrels. This wine will wow when served with roast lamb
